John Ames (left), who fought in an Illinois regiment in the Civil War, was the second Ames to own the little farmhouse and barn on Monticello Road in Richfield Springs. To the right is John's son Sherman, grandfather of the filmmaker. This is one of the earliest known photographs of the Ames homestead, circa 1900.
